Version 2.0 of SalahForFalah, the Muslim prayer direction and timings calculator for iOS, is now available for download from the App Store. This is a major release with new features such as the Mosque Locator and Prayer Alerts (available via In-App purchase), and a small fix for incorrect Qiblah direction near the Masjid-al-Haram.

Microsoft® WCF Training Event

An online training event on Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation was held by JTPL for AutoSoft Dynamics (Pvt.) Limited, Lahore. The session was conducted by Muhammad Abu Rehan, Project Manager at JTPL.
The event started with a presentation explaining the need for WCF, its advantages, and implementation in .NET applications. WCF’s Interoperability with existing application communication protocols was also discussed, including different SOA methodologies for serving rich-Internet applications and websites.
The presentation was followed by a demonstration of a simple WCF service, and its development, debugging and configuration using VisualStudio and WCF tools. A client application was demonstrated, explaining the consumption of WCF services. A simple procedure for creating clients and WCF types binding with Windows controls was also demonstrated.
The presentation was delivered using Skype™ and TeamViewer™.

A training session on introduction to Windows Phone 7 from developers' perspective was held at the Islamabad office. The speaker, Mr. Ali Sufyan (Microsoft Community Trainer) explained and demonstrated the features of Windows Phone 7, and its collaboration with existing Microsoft applications like SharePoint, Great Plains, which target the ISVs. A new evolving UI, that is simpler and more productive, called "METRO UI" was also shown, which is also going to be the UI for Windows 8.
Windows Marketplace, where developers can showcase their work and sell their ideas was discussed. The attendees were shown some sample applications, the speaker explaining how development in Windows Phone 7 would be a much easier task for developers than before.

FAST-NUCES Open House

FAST-NU organized its annual Open House on Wednesday, April 26, 2011 for placement and recruitment of graduating students of BS and MS (Computer Science). It was an excellent opportunity for Jin Technologies to interact with the graduating students for the purpose of recruitment. Manager Human Resources, Salman Masud and Project Manager, Ghulam Mustafa attended the event and interacted with the graduating batches. They held brief sessions with the students on the basis of their final-year projects, and answered queries regarding the job openings at JTPL.

JTPL Multan team moved into their new, larger office today, Alhumdulillah. The new office is located in the modern state-of-the-art ChenOne Tower, located on Abdali Road. The building is equipped with centralized air-conditioning, backup power generator, a shopping mall with eateries, a full-service conference hall, a planned theatre and recreational sporting facilities. Our new office in ChenOne Tower is equipped with purpose-built lighting for developer comfort, and redundant Internet connectivity.

JTPL Helps Set Up iPhone Dev Lab at NUST

JTPL funds and helps set up the iPhone Dev Lab at National University of Science & Technology, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS).
JTPL have committed to develop a team for building iPhone applications, and we are proud to be coordinating and participating in this effort with SEECS. We are contributing to this project, both with equipment and with manpower. Our objective for this initiative is to put together innovative ideas for products and get them developed in collaboration with SEECS.

Jin Technologies attended the at GITEX Technology Week 2008, Dubai, as an exhibitor at the Pakistan Pavilion. A large number of visitors attended the show, which is one of the largest IT shows in the region.
We exhibited our new software service ShowInvisibles.com, the online tool for print and design professionals where anyone with an Internet connection and a browser can create, edit, and collaborate on their print design projects, safely.
Senior teams members of our team, Hamed Farouk and Syed Ghulam Akbar, represented JTPL at the show.

JTPL exhibited at the Islamabad edition of Rozee's Job Fair 2008, which was held at the Islamabad Convention Center on Sunday, March 9, 2008.
Like last year, when the fair attracted over 100,000 professionals and students, this event too provided an excellent opportunity for companies and professionals to meet and explore opportunities for working together.
Salman Masud, Manager Human Resources, along-with other key members of the JTPL team, were present throughout the day to answer queries and receive applications. Spot interview sessions were also conducted to fast-track applications through our selection process.

The seminar was attended by students from NUCES, Islamabad, and Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, as well as members of the JTPL Islamabad and Multan teams.
